Arizona State University’s new medical school, the John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering, has received preliminary accreditation from the LCME, paving the way for its first class in August 2026.
Funded by a nine-figure donation—the second-largest in ASU’s history—the school will train students to earn both MD and master’s degrees in medical engineering, integrating medicine, technology, and entrepreneurship.
Classes will initially be held at ASU’s Mercado complex, with a permanent downtown Phoenix campus set to open in 2028.
