Arizona man guilty in 2022 Australia police killings, sentenced for illegal gun possession.
Donald Day Jr., an Arizona man linked to the 2022 Wieambilla shootings in Australia that killed two police officers and a neighbor, has pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing firearms and ammunition.
Court documents show he communicated with the attackers, Gareth and Stacey Train, online, praising their actions and referring to police as “malignant, malformed and malevolent.” Authorities found nine high-powered guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition at his rural Arizona property, where he had built a dedicated gun room and trained others.
Despite a criminal history that barred him from gun ownership, Day admitted to regular access to the weapons.
He has already served two years in custody and, under a plea deal, will receive a sentence at the low end of federal guidelines, with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison or a $250,000 fine.
His sentencing is set for January 8, 2026.
