A 28-year-old man was indicted for a Dayton shooting, fleeing police, and illegal gun possession.
Gene E. Blatchford Jr., 28, has been indicted in Montgomery County on charges including two counts of felonious assault with a firearm, theft, fleeing police, tampering with evidence, and illegal weapon possession.
The charges stem from an Oct. 10 shooting in Dayton that left a 47-year-old man with non-life-threatening leg injuries.
Authorities identified Blatchford as the suspect through witness statements and a Facebook profile.
After the shooting, he allegedly stole a black Chevy compact and fled, leading police on a chase that ended near Wilmington Pike and Whipp Road.
A witness reported the vehicle at a Costco parking lot, where police found Blatchford, the car, and a gun in separate locations.
He remains in Montgomery County Jail and is scheduled for arraignment on Oct. 23.
