The Trump administration has deported over 515,000 migrants since January, aiming for 600,000 by year-end amid record enforcement.
Since January 20, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has deported over 515,000 individuals apprehended for illegal entry or visa overstays, according to DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, placing the Trump administration on track to set a new record for deportations in a single term.
The surge is attributed to expanded enforcement, including expedited removals, increased border patrols, and collaboration with local police.
The administration prioritizes removals of those with criminal records, recent border crossings, or threats to public safety, with a goal of deporting 600,000 by year’s end.
DHS also reported nearly 2 million total departures since January, including 1.6 million who self-deported, amid a sharp decline in migration through Panama’s Darien Gap.
