A Texas exec was arrested in Florida for leaving her 6-month-old unattended on a beach, leading to child neglect charges.

A Texas healthcare executive, Sara Sommers Wilks, was arrested in Florida on October 10 after leaving her six-month-old baby unattended on Miramar Beach while walking with her other three children. Authorities said beachgoers found the infant under a tent, unharmed, and security footage showed the couple had left their phones behind. Both Wilks, 37, and her husband Brian, 40, were charged with child neglect, a third-degree felony, and released on $1,000 bonds each. The Florida Department of Children and Families temporarily took custody of all four children until relatives arrived. Wilks, who had been named to a national "40 Under 40" list earlier in 2025 for her work in cardiology administration, remains under investigation.
