The Savannah River Site Museum hosted its third annual Fall Fission Festival on October 18 in Aiken, drawing hundreds to a STEM-focused event featuring hands-on science activities, games, food trucks, and a Halloween costume contest.
Held at 224 Laurens St.
S.W., the festival included interactive exhibits like a sponge-fishing game and science trivia, aimed at inspiring local youth to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Organizers, including museum director Linda Lindler and SRS Heritage Foundation chair Jim Marra, emphasized the event’s role in strengthening community ties and highlighting the Savannah River Site’s 75th anniversary and regional significance.
