A body found in a remote Stark County wooded area on July 23 has been identified as Ryan Godbey, a 26-year-old who went missing in June 2025. DNA testing by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation confirmed the identification on October 20, 2025, shifting the case to a homicide. Daniel Mattay, 33, Godbey’s ex-boyfriend, was indicted on multiple charges including murder and tampering with evidence, and is being held without bond.
