A Pew Research Center survey released October 20–21, 2025, found that 31% of U.S. adults believe religion’s influence in American life is growing—up from 18% in February 2024—and marking the highest positive sentiment in 15 years.
The shift, seen across political affiliations and age groups, brought the share with a net-positive view of religion’s role to 59%, while 58% of those who see religion gaining influence report significant conflict with mainstream culture.
Despite long-term declines in religious affiliation, perceptions of religion’s rising societal impact have increased, though a majority still believe its influence is declining.
