In October 2025, members of the 3R armed group in northwest Central African Republic disarmed in Sanguere-Lim as part of a national DDR initiative launched in July, supported by UN peacekeepers and guided by the 2016 National DDR Strategy. The operation included weapon surrender, medical checks, registration, and distribution of certificates, vocational training, starter kits, and financial aid. Among those disarming was Mbekaka Ursula Aicha, the only female ex-combatant, who cited leadership calls and community marginalization as motivations. Local residents reported improved safety, while officials emphasized the effort’s role in reducing violence and advancing reconciliation.
