A free full-day workshop on Nov. 19 in Lucknow, organized by Agriculture Wellness Ontario’s Guardian Network, will train community members to identify mental health distress and suicide risk among farmers.
The peer-led initiative aims to reduce stigma and strengthen rural support networks, offering tools for supportive conversations and access to a free 24/7 counseling service in English, French, and Spanish for farmers and their families.
The service is available at 1-866-267-6255, with eligibility starting at age 16 (12 with parental consent).
Additional monthly online workshops, including one on stress management on Nov. 27, support ongoing mental wellness in agriculture.
