A Nigerian court voided Ebonyi State’s 2024 local elections over fraud and ordered all officials removed.
A Federal High Court in Abakaliki has nullified the July 2024 local government elections in Ebonyi State, ruling they violated the Electoral Act due to procedural failures and lack of transparency.
The court ordered the immediate removal of all 13 chairmen and 171 councillors, banned further elections until legal requirements are met, and directed the federal government to withhold allocations to the affected councils.
The decision, based on a legal challenge citing irregularities, follows a prior 2022 ruling the state had ignored, raising concerns about electoral integrity and governance.
