New Hampshire Executive Councilor Karen Liot Hill has agreed to a $1,000 fine and repayment of at least $3,000 for using campaign funds on personal expenses, including clothing, groceries, medical care, and home heating.
The state’s Attorney General’s Office found she violated campaign finance rules by mixing personal and campaign finances, though Liot Hill disputed some rulings, arguing clothing worn during campaigns should be allowable.
Other officials, including Republican lawmakers Jason Osborne and Joe Sweeney, and the Committee to Elect House Republicans, also faced fines for late or inaccurate campaign finance reports, with penalties ranging from $500 to $2,000.
All required reports were eventually submitted.
State officials emphasized that candidates must follow campaign finance laws, regardless of experience.
