A measles case at Las Vegas airport on Oct. 13 may have exposed travelers; officials urge vaccination checks.
Health officials in Southern Nevada are warning the public about a potential measles exposure at Harry Reid International Airport’s Terminal 3 and E Gates on October 13, after a confirmed case in an out-of-state visitor.
The individual, who did not leave the airport, was present around 8 a.m. and may have spread the highly contagious virus, which can linger in the air for up to two hours.
Symptoms—fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and rash—typically appear 7 to 21 days after exposure and can lead to serious complications, especially in young children, pregnant women, adults over 20, and those with weakened immune systems.
Clark County has not had a resident measles case since 2018, and a similar 2024 visitor case did not cause local spread.
Officials urge anyone in the terminal during that time to check their vaccination status.
