A man was charged with trafficking cocaine and cannabis after a police chase in St Helens, while another was arrested for possessing 40 kg of cocaine on the M6.
A 29-year-old man, Alex Verdin, appeared in court on October 14, 2025, charged with possessing 1 kilogram of cocaine and 27 kilograms of cannabis with intent to supply, along with dangerous driving.
The charges stem from an October 12 incident in St Helens where police pursued his vehicle after he failed to stop at a road closure.
He fled the scene but was later arrested nearby, and drugs and cash were found in a garden.
The case was remanded to Liverpool Crown Court for a November 11 hearing.
Separately, a 55-year-old man, Stephen Phillips, was charged with possession of 40 kilograms of cocaine—worth £3.2 million—after a stop on the M6 motorway on October 16.
The seizure, made by Cheshire Police with support from the National Crime Agency and Merseyside Police, is described as a major disruption of a drug trafficking operation.
