Kmart to replace Target at Charlestown Square, NSW, starting Nov. 15, as part of Wesfarmers’ store conversions.
A new Kmart store is set to open at Charlestown Square in New South Wales, replacing the current Target location, with the transition beginning November 15.
The change, confirmed by a sign at the site, follows Wesfarmers’ 2020 strategy to convert underperforming Target stores into Kmart locations, with at least 92 sites targeted.
The announcement prompted a shopper rush over the weekend, with clearance sales quickly depleting inventory.
While the exact opening date for the new Kmart is unconfirmed, the shift is part of a broader retail restructuring.
Charlestown Square has recently welcomed other retailers, including Adidas, Yo-Chi, and The Stable Door.
The GPT Group, owner of the shopping center, has not commented.
