Japan to test transferring its endoscopy infection control system to India.
Olympus Corporation, with partners Saraya Co. and the University of Tokyo Hospital, has been selected for Japan’s METI FY2024 subsidy program to study adapting Japan’s digitalized endoscopy infection control systems to India.
The feasibility project aims to assess transferring Japan’s automated, standardized reprocessing methods—developed to minimize infection risks—to Indian medical facilities where endoscopic procedures are growing but often rely on manual cleaning.
The study will include expert exchanges, training in Japan, and on-site evaluations in India to address challenges in healthcare access, compliance, safety, and product quality.
The initiative supports broader efforts to improve global medical safety through technology transfer and international collaboration.
