James McAllian, 48, of Bangor, Maine, was charged with burglary and criminal threatening after allegedly threatening to detonate a pipe bomb during a break-in at a Venture Way business on October 19, 2025.
Police responded around 11 a.m., encountered McAllian inside the building, and negotiated his surrender through a window.
He had no explosives on his person but led officers to an inert device inside that resembled a pipe bomb.
The Bangor Police Bomb Squad confirmed it posed no threat.
No injuries occurred, and McAllian remains jailed pending further investigation.
