A Florida woman is charged with second-degree murder in her 6-year-old autistic son’s death after allegedly strangling him during a restraint.
A 40-year-old Florida woman, Justine Eve Mroz, faces second-degree murder charges in the death of her 6-year-old autistic son, Elliot Perez, in Pasco County.
Authorities say she called police on October 20, 2025, reporting her son’s death and was found with injuries and blood on her arms.
The boy was unresponsive at home and later pronounced dead.
According to an affidavit, Mroz told investigators she lost control after her son began head-banging and attacking her, attempting to restrain him before fatally strangling him.
She is employed by Pasco County Schools in a non-instructional, itinerant role and is no longer on school campuses.
A pretrial detention hearing is set for October 27.
