The Crown Estate is developing a 221-acre science hub near Oxford to address UK lab shortages and boost innovation.
The Crown Estate has bought a 221-acre farmland site near Oxfordshire’s Harwell Science and Innovation Campus to develop Harwell East, a new science and innovation hub.
The project aims to deliver up to 4.5 million square feet of lab, office, and manufacturing space, along with 400 homes, to address a UK-wide shortage of facilities for early-stage science firms.
Part of a £1.5 billion, 15-year investment plan, the development seeks to boost innovation in AI and advanced manufacturing, support economic growth, and strengthen the Oxford-Cambridge corridor.
Planning permission is pending.
