Canada's 2025/26 crop outlook shows stable wheat and canola stocks, lower exports, and falling prices, except for lentils and flax.
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada released updated 2025/26 crop projections on October 17, showing stable wheat and canola ending stocks at 5.2 million and 2.5 million tonnes respectively, up from 2024/25 levels.
Wheat exports rose slightly to 27.4 million tonnes, still down 6.2% from last year, while domestic use was revised down to 8.241 million tonnes.
Canola exports remain at 7 million tonnes, a 25% drop from 2024/25, with domestic use up 4.8%.
Most crop prices fell, including wheat, barley, oats, canola, peas, and flaxseed, though lentils saw a $20 increase and flax and mustard prices rose due to export demand.
Alberta’s harvest is nearly complete, with 99.4% of major crops finished, surpassing historical averages, though crop quality remains a concern despite recent precipitation.
