Canada Post strikes halt deliveries in multiple cities over union disputes on service cuts and job security.
Canada Post faces rotating strikes in Belleville, Ont., Fort St. John, B.C., and Whitehorse, halting mail and parcel delivery and pickup as the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) protests proposed changes like reduced door-to-door delivery, expanded mailboxes, and rural office closures.
The strike, ongoing since October 11, follows a nationwide walkout starting September 25, with CUPW demanding job security and protections against contracting out work.
Canada Post says the disruptions cost $10 million daily and are straining finances, while negotiations continue between the union and federal officials over a new contract after nearly two years of talks.
