A Bathurst woman overcame trauma and alcohol use through drumming therapy, now urging others to seek help during Mental Health Awareness Month.
Amy Le Franc, a Bathurst resident, shared her mental health journey shaped by childhood trauma, loss, and relationship breakdown, which led to alcohol use.
With support from mental health professional Bryan Billington at Bathurst Health Service, she found healing through drumming, which helped regulate her emotions and nervous system.
In October 2025, she joined the “Bring a Drum or Tin Along” event at Kings Parade, drawing 150 participants to promote community connection and healthy coping during Mental Health Awareness Month.
Le Franc urged people to seek help, speak about trauma, and access local mental health services like Bathurst Health Service, Bathurst Uniting Support Service, Anglicare, HopeCare, and the Bathurst Medicare Mental Health Centre.
