The White House has launched a $500 million drone security program to protect airspace over 104 2026 FIFA World Cup venues across the U.S., funded by the Department of Homeland Security under Trump’s recently passed One Big Beautiful Bill.
The initiative will provide state and local law enforcement with handheld tools to detect and disable unauthorized drones, addressing longstanding limitations on local response capabilities.
Led by Andrew Giuliani of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Task Force, the program aims to enhance security for major 2026 events, including the U.S. 250th anniversary and the Los Angeles Olympics.
Guidance for funding applications will be released soon, with every state guaranteed a minimum allocation regardless of hosting status.
