Two men died in a head-on crash on South Dakota Highway 11 near Canton early Sunday.
A head-on collision on South Dakota Highway 11 early Sunday morning, around 6:20 a.m., killed two men, a 52-year-old from Alcester and a 49-year-old from Sioux Falls, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred near mile marker 47, about eight miles south of Canton, when a 1992 Ford Ranger traveling north collided with a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta going south that had crossed into the northbound lane.
Both drivers died from their injuries.
The Ford Ranger flipped into a ditch, and the Jetta came to rest in the southbound lane.
Authorities are investigating the cause, and the victims' identities have not been publicly released pending family notification.
