flag STMicroelectronics launches 5MP image sensors for industrial, security, and retail use with advanced low-light and motion-artifact reduction features.

STMicroelectronics has launched four new 5MP CMOS image sensors for industrial automation, security, and retail, featuring hybrid global and rolling shutter modes to eliminate motion artifacts while delivering high-detail, low-noise imaging. Built with 2.25µm pixels, 3D stacking, backside illumination, and capacitive deep trench isolation, the sensors offer enhanced low-light performance and sharpness in a compact 73% pixel array-to-die ratio design. RGB-IR variants enable on-chip color and infrared separation without external filters, supporting multiple output patterns and instant switching. Targeting robotic vision, biometrics, and automated checkout systems, the sensors are available for evaluation now, with mass production expected in February 2026.
