A record 17% surge in abuse survivors seeking help in Ireland follows public awareness from a major school abuse report.
A record 17% increase in adults seeking help from One In Four, an Irish charity for child sexual abuse survivors, was reported in 2024, with men making up 62% of clients—up from 48% the prior year.
The rise is linked to heightened public awareness following the release of the Scoping Inquiry Report into historical abuse in schools, which documented 2,395 allegations across 308 schools.
The charity supported 1,292 individuals through nearly 7,700 sessions, including therapy, advocacy, and a pilot neurofeedback program.
Its annual report and new strategic plan are set to be launched by Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan.
