Over 1,600 BYD vehicles stored illegally at a NSW park since August await rezoning approval.
Over 1,600 new BYD vehicles, including the Shark 6 ute and Sealion 7 SUV, have been stored at Jamberoo Action Park in New South Wales since August, raising concerns over alleged illegal vehicle storage. The site, not zoned for such use, has prompted Kiama Municipal Council to issue compliance notices. A development application seeks to legally rezone the area, but without approval, the vehicles cannot be moved. BYD Australia, which took over import and distribution in July 2025, says storage is managed by a logistics partner near Port Kembla. The company, now a top-five seller in Australia, plans to launch new models including the Atto 1 and Atto 2 EVs and the Denza premium brand in November.
