Nigeria fired China’s CCECC over failed road project, demanding fixes or project shutdown.
Nigeria has terminated the contract for the 43-kilometer Port Harcourt–Aba Road project with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) after repeated construction failures, including road collapses, despite over 20 warnings.
Minister of Works David Umahi cited substandard work, including improper asphalt use and missing shoulder concrete, calling the road unsafe.
CCECC has 14 days to fix defects at its own expense or face shutdown of all Nigerian projects.
The government will assign the Port Harcourt-bound section to qualified Nigerian contractors.
