NCB shuts down illegal alprazolam lab in Ratlam, arrests two pharmacists, seizes 13.76 kg.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) dismantled an illegal Alprazolam manufacturing lab in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, on October 18, seizing 13.762 kg of the drug valued at Rs 3.44 crore.
Two individuals, Roop Singh Chauhan and Abhijeet Singh Chauhan, both with pharmaceutical backgrounds, were arrested for operating the lab since January 2025 in a hired warehouse near IPCA Laboratory.
The facility contained lab equipment and precursor chemicals used to produce the controlled psychotropic substance, which is often misused or used to adulterate other drugs.
The operation supports India’s “Nasha Mukt Bharat” initiative, and investigations continue into the drug’s supply chain and financial links.
