Lagos hosts 2025 Climate Summit to boost ocean-based climate finance and resilience ahead of COP30.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced the 2025 International Climate Change Summit, set for November 6–7 at the Lagos Continental Hotel, with the theme "Blue Economy, Green Money: Financing Africa’s Coastal Resilience and Ocean Innovation."
The event, ahead of COP30, will bring together global leaders, investors, scientists, and policymakers to advance climate finance, blue bonds, and nature-based coastal protection projects.
Lagos, Africa’s fastest-growing coastal city, aims to lead subnational climate action by promoting sustainable fisheries, mangrove restoration, ocean energy, and resilient infrastructure.
The summit will showcase local initiatives and strengthen Africa’s voice in global climate negotiations, with support from the African Development Bank, World Bank, and Eko Atlantic.
