Ghana’s NDC official denies falsely claiming President Mahama’s integrity was questioned over ambulance deal appeal withdrawal.
Professor Kwamena Ahwoi, a senior member of Ghana’s National Democratic Congress, has denied reports claiming he questioned President John Dramani Mahama’s integrity over the government’s decision to withdraw the appeal in the ambulance procurement case involving Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
Ahwoi stated he never appeared on Peace FM or made the comments attributed to him, calling the reports misleading and urging the public to disregard them.
The appeal, initially filed by former Attorney General Godfred Dame, was withdrawn in January 2025 by his successor, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, citing legal advice and public interest.
The case, which began in 2015, involved allegations of a €2.37 million loss from a 2014–2016 ambulance deal and had drawn significant public attention.
Ahwoi’s statement aimed to correct misinformation and promote responsible information sharing.
