Fifty-five Chinese users sued Apple over alleged app store anti-competitive practices.
Fifty-five Chinese iPhone and iPad users filed an antitrust complaint against Apple with China’s market regulator, alleging the company abuses its dominance by forcing use of its In-App Purchase system, restricting app downloads to the App Store, and charging up to 30% fees, while allowing alternatives in other markets under pressure.
The complaint, led by lawyer Wang Qiongfei, comes amid rising U.S.-China trade tensions and Beijing’s broader crackdown on U.S. tech firms, including probes into Qualcomm.
This follows a 2021 civil case dismissed by a Shanghai court, now under appeal at China’s Supreme People’s Court, with Wang seeking faster resolution through administrative channels.
