A 73-year-old man died from a gunshot in Birmingham after a verbal dispute, and police are seeking leads.
A 73-year-old man, Alfred Stephens of Bessemer, died from a gunshot wound sustained in a shooting Friday, October 17, 2025, in Birmingham’s Collegeville neighborhood.
Police responded to a report at 10:01 a.m. on 27th Avenue North, finding Stephens unresponsive after a verbal altercation with an unknown suspect who fled.
He was taken to UAB Hospital, where he died Saturday evening.
No arrests have been made, and authorities are urging witnesses or anyone with information to contact the Birmingham Police Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
The investigation remains active.
