Sen. Rand Paul condemned Trump’s unapproved Caribbean strikes, calling them unconstitutional and dangerous.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) condemned President Trump’s recent military strikes on suspected drug-trafficking boats in the Caribbean, calling them a violation of American tradition, due process, and constitutional principles.
Speaking on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Paul argued that targeting individuals without knowing their identities or presenting evidence crosses a dangerous line, especially without congressional approval.
He expressed concern over over 20 deaths in six strikes, questioned the assumption that the boats were headed to the U.S., and warned that publicly announcing covert operations undermines intelligence work.
Paul, who supports Trump on other issues, joined Democratic senators in pushing a failed resolution to block military actions against Venezuela without congressional authorization, calling extrajudicial killings “despicable.”
