Sabah's minister vows to resign if AGC appeals a ruling granting Sabah 40% of its federal revenue.
Sabah's Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Ewon Benedick has pledged to resign from the federal Cabinet if the Attorney-General's Chambers appeals a High Court ruling affirming Sabah's constitutional right to 40% of net federal revenue generated in the state.
The decision follows a resolution passed by the Penampang Upko division, which supports the court’s judgment that the federal government unlawfully withheld Sabah’s revenue share for nearly 50 years.
Ewon emphasized the ruling is a matter of principle and urged the federal government to respect the decision and negotiate a resolution within 180 days.
The AGC is reviewing the judgment, particularly regarding Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution, before deciding on appeal.
