The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “Divine Egypt,” its first major exhibition on ancient Egyptian gods in over ten years, opened October 12, 2025, drawing large crowds.
Featuring over 200 objects from global collections, the show explores 25 major deities across 3,000 years of Egyptian history, highlighting their roles in creation, daily life, and the afterlife.
Curator Diana Craig Patch emphasizes how gods like Amun-Re, Horus, Hathor, and Maat were venerated by both royalty and ordinary people through rituals, festivals, and personal devotion.
Key artifacts include a Louvre loan of Osiris, Isis, and Horus inlaid with lapis lazuli, a gold statuette of Amun, and a relief of Maat symbolizing truth.
