On Saturday, 250 men and supporters in St. Catharines, Ontario, took part in the 19th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event, raising over $150,000 for Gillian’s Place, a local organization supporting survivors of domestic violence.
Participants walked a mile in high heels to promote awareness and solidarity, with community leaders like Caleb Daniels and Noah Machek contributing significantly to fundraising.
The event, inspired by a 2001 California initiative, aims to combat gender-based violence and support survivors, including women, children, and 2SLGBQIA-plus individuals.
Gillian’s Place served over 245 women and children and responded to more than 3,660 crisis calls in the past year, with funds helping meet its $1.5 million annual goal.
The event surpassed its $135,000 target, reflecting strong community commitment to ending domestic violence.
