flag A Mayo mother with MS leads a national readathon to raise funds and awareness for the condition.

Louise Power, a mother from Ballina, Co Mayo, is raising awareness about hidden disabilities after living with multiple sclerosis (MS) for 10 years. Diagnosed postpartum, she manages symptoms like fatigue and brain fog with support from MS Ireland, which she says transformed her life. Now involved in the MS Readathon—running November 1 to December 15—she participates with her sons, continuing a childhood tradition. The campaign, now in its 39th year, raises funds to support over 11,000 people with MS and their families across Ireland. MS Ireland’s CEO Ava Battles encourages schools, families, and workplaces to join, promoting literacy and vital services.
