Kerala joins PM SHRI scheme for ₹1,500 crore in school funds, rejecting NEP changes.
Kerala has joined the central PM SHRI education scheme to secure ₹1,500 crore in pending funds for school programs, including teacher salaries, despite opposition from the CPI within its ruling coalition.
The decision, made without cabinet approval, allows two schools per block to receive annual grants of ₹1 crore for five years to improve infrastructure and teaching.
While participating, the state reaffirmed it will not adopt any National Education Policy provisions it has rejected, including syllabus or historical content changes, maintaining its commitment to state autonomy and its own secular education framework.
