The Kati Bihu Bird Count 2025, held on October 18 at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam, recorded 146 bird species and 1,919 individuals across five locations, with Agoratoli showing the highest diversity.
Organized by the Assam Bird Monitoring Network and park authorities, the citizen science event involved 63 participants, including students, researchers, birders, and women forest staff, highlighting growing community engagement.
Among the species documented were two endangered, six vulnerable, and six near-threatened birds, including the Swamp Grass Babbler, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, great hornbill, and river tern.
The survey supports long-term bird monitoring and habitat assessment in the region.
