India allocates ₹1,950 crore in disaster funds to Karnataka and Maharashtra for flood relief.
The Indian government has approved ₹1,950.80 crore in advance funds from the State Disaster Response Fund for Karnataka and Maharashtra to aid flood relief, with ₹384.40 crore going to Karnataka and ₹1,566.40 crore to Maharashtra.
This follows earlier disbursements totaling over ₹15.8 billion from SDRF and NDRF to multiple states.
The central government, under Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, has deployed 199 NDRF teams, along with Army and Air Force support, across 30 states and UTs during the monsoon season.
Additional funds were released for disaster mitigation and fire service upgrades in several states.
