Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu celebrated Diwali with children at the Tutikandi Bal Ashram in Shimla, distributing gifts and sweets while highlighting compassion and togetherness.
He announced new welfare measures, including a monthly Rs 4,000 pocket allowance and full education cost coverage for orphaned and vulnerable children, who are now considered “children of the state.” Upgrades to residential facilities, annual sports days on November 14, and out-of-state educational tours are planned to support their holistic development.
Sukhu urged the children to focus on studies and contribute to society.
The event included cultural performances and lamp lighting, attended by local officials.
