Ghana distributes 3 million coconut seedlings to 20,000 farmers to boost agriculture and exports.
President John Dramani Mahama launched a nationwide distribution of three million elite coconut seedlings across 11 regions under the Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness, funded by the Ghana Exim Bank and implemented by the Coconut Federation of Ghana with support from FAGE.
The initiative, aimed at boosting agriculture and exports, reached over 20,000 farmers, with initial phases distributing seedlings to 237 farmers, including regional managers who received up to 2,500 each.
Monitoring is underway to ensure growth.
The program supports Ghana’s coconut sector, which already generates over $12 million annually in exports, and seeks to meet rising global demand for coconut products.
