The Democratic Republic of the Congo may end its latest Ebola outbreak by early December if no new cases emerge during a 42-day monitoring period following the discharge of the last patient on October 19.
The outbreak, declared on September 4 in Kasai province, reported 64 cases—53 confirmed and 11 probable—with 19 recoveries.
No new cases have been detected since September 25.
The World Health Organization credited rapid response efforts, strong collaboration, and effective surveillance for the containment.
The DRC previously ended its 15th Ebola outbreak in 2022.
