Chinese doctors provided free medical care to 32 orphans in Togo, including surgery for one child, under a 2025 health initiative.
On October 19, 2025, Chinese doctors from the 28th medical team in Togo provided free medical consultations and medicines to 32 children at the "Lueur d'Espoir" orphanage in Yope Kope, about 60 kilometers northwest of Lomé, as part of the "China-Togo Solidarity Medical Consultations 2025" initiative launched in March.
The children received check-ups in general medicine, trauma, surgery, and eye care.
Team leader Guo Juanjuan highlighted the mission’s commitment to compassionate medical aid, while orphanage director Tokpo Tawa Sefako praised the support, especially the medicine donations.
One 10-year-old patient, Moumoune Dado, will receive free surgery for a painful condition.
The event underscores ongoing China-Togo efforts to improve healthcare access for vulnerable populations.
