Capreol’s River Walk, a 2.2-kilometer trail along the Vermilion River, has been recognized by Communities in Bloom as a model of smart, sustainable design. Originally a flood protection berm, it has been transformed into a scenic, accessible pathway with antique lighting, benches, safety fencing, and native pollinator-friendly plantings, including milkweed. The trail supports walking, biking, fishing, and paddling, connects to ski trails, and features wheelchair-accessible picnic areas. The award highlights its success in blending environmental stewardship, heritage conservation, and community well-being.
