Australian mare Clear Thinking wins $2M Kosciuszko, while Hong Kong’s Ka Ying Rising claims $20M Everest.
Scone trainer Paul Messara won the $2 million Kosciuszko at Royal Randwick as his mare Clear Thinking, un-raced since March, surged from last to win by nearly a length despite a tough draw and traffic, with jockey Tyler Schiller praising her composure.
The six-year-old, trained by Messara and Leah Gavranich, now has five wins and a second from seven starts, carrying 53.5kg as the 43.70 favorite.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Ka Ying Rising won the $20 million Everest, dominating the field under Zac Purton to claim the world’s richest turf race, finishing 1.15 lengths ahead, after a lackluster barrier trial.
