Two Florida Popeyes workers arrested for double-charging cards to fund inmate commissary payments.
Two Palm Coast, Florida, Popeyes employees, Shaunta Johnson, 42, and Chaniqua Richberg, 48, have been arrested in a fraud scheme involving double-charging customers’ credit cards during drive-thru transactions.
Authorities allege Johnson, arrested Wednesday, used the second charge to send money to her boyfriend, an inmate, via commissary payments.
Richberg was previously arrested in April after a customer reported an unauthorized $311.90 charge tied to a similar commissary payment.
Both women allegedly exploited the restaurant’s system, with Johnson facing multiple charges and being held without bond.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation spanned seven months and was aided by cooperation from the restaurant’s new owners.
The case remains active.
