Taliban shut down Kabul broadcaster Shamshad TV over coverage of clashes with Pakistan, sparking press freedom concerns.
Shamshad TV, a prominent Kabul-based private broadcaster, was abruptly suspended following a directive from the Taliban’s intelligence agency, according to media watchdogs.
The closure, reportedly due to the outlet’s coverage of clashes between the Taliban and Pakistan, has drawn condemnation from Afghan journalists’ groups who call it a blow to press freedom.
The Taliban has not commented, nor has Shamshad’s management.
