The branch has paused accepting new animals, forcing many cats into stressful private catteries. The surge in cats stems from recent large-scale cruelty and neglect cases. The charity’s Adoptober campaign urges the public to adopt rescue cats, emphasizing personality and lifestyle matches over breed or appearance, and encourages completing a “perfect match” form to be notified when a suitable cat becomes available.
